Profile

William has ridden for most of his life and began his eventing career when he was 19. His goal was always to compete at Badminton and to achieve as much experience as possible, before pursuing his career as a trainer/coach for both horse and rider.

He first achieved his goal of competing at Badminton in 1991, when he was just 23, with Passadena II. This was just the start of an amazing partnership which saw the two of them competing at Badminton and Burghley throughout the 90’s. He completed Badminton 5 times in 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1997 and Burghley in 4 times in 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1995.

In 1997, William collected his Armada Dish at Badminton, which is awarded to riders when they have completed Badminton 5 times. What was even more of an achievement was that these 5 times were all done with Passadena II.

In 1992, William was short listed for the Barcelona Olympics and again in 1996 he was long listed for the Atlanta Olympics. What this meant was that for 5 years William was able to appreciate British Squad Training from some of the best Trainers and Coaches in the world.

1999 saw William competing at his last International 3 day event, as he had now set up his training centre at The Old Kennels, Cirencester Park, and wanted to concentrate on teaching and coaching horses and riders.

In 2000, William achieved his BHSI and also became a BE Accredited Trainer. He as become a trainer for the National Pony Club Eventing Clinics. In 2005, William became a steward for the Pony Club Horse Trials Group. For the last three years William has been the cross country steward at the National Pony Club Horse Trials Championships.
